Summary

A day hike up Vly and Bearpen in misty, wet conditions. The air was cool and moist with everything wet from overnight rain, creating a rainforest-like atmosphere with limited views due to persistent clouds that didn't burn off until descent.

A nice day yesterday. Much chillier in the morning than when I did Plateau last Friday. That hike was hot and humid but we beat the rain.
Yesterday we started walking quarter to 9:00. The air was very moist as it was super misty and cloudy. But it was definitely much cooler which felt great. Hiked up to the Hunter's cabin which made a great photo shrouded in mist. Went up Vly first and it was like hiking in a cloudy rainforest, which made for some great photos. It never rained but everything was wet from the previous night.
Back down to the cabin then we went up Bearpen. We took the herd path after the hairpin turn which shortened the distance. Still remained extremely misty which I thought would have burned off from sun. That didn't happen until we descended bearpen. So we had no views but it was a cool ambiance. We poked around up there for a bit and then sat down and relaxed.
Aterwards we drove around a bit when the hike was over exploring the area and then we hit Woodstock brewing for the first time on the way out. A good day. Oh yeah, checked out the Esopus and it was swollen. Parked at some angler's lot.
