After a few short days at home in the Adirondacks, we were back in New Hampshire on the 6th. We met up with Fiddlehead, and dropped a vehicle at the Pine Bend Brook trail-head, and drove to the Oliverian Brook trail-head to start the hike. With the lack of snow, we wanted to get this hike done, so that we could use the Kate Sleeper trail to connect Whiteface and the Tripyramids without having to break out that trail. We started out bare-booting, and put on spikes when we got into some ice flows higher up. Looking south from near the summit of Mt Passaconaway There aren't a lot of views on this hike, and none from the summits of Passaconaway or Whiteface. We stopped at the summit of Whiteface, and weren't sure if it was the summit. There was a sign on a tree the last time that I was there, but we didn't see it this time. We continued on to the Kate Sleeper trail, and over East and West Sleeper before getting to the slide on South Tripyramid. Fiddlehead climbing the slide Looking west at Waterville Valley ski area and Mt Tecumseh from the side of South Tripyramid We made the steep climb up South Tripyramid, and then across the ridge to Middle and North. By the time we got to North Tripyramid, the clouds had moved in, and there was no view from the outlook. The first storm of 2024 was moving in, although it was forecase to bring more snow to places further south in New England. We hiked out along the Pine Bend Brook trail. Overall, the day had been overcast, but there are some nice sections of trail on this route, and it was a nice day to be out in the woods.
