The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) today announced an anticipated water disruption at Sugar Hill Recreation Area and Fire Tower, 3360 Tower Hill Rd., Watkins Glen. DEC encourages early season campers and day users to be prepared when the gates open Monday, May 18, 2026. Restrooms and potable water service are unavailable for an indeterminate timeframe until repairs to the water system infrastructure are complete. Americans with Disabilities Act accessible portable restrooms will be available on opening day and throughout the maintenance period. DEC will notify the public when services are restored.
