With spring hiking season upon us, we’d like to remind park-goers that the Breakneck Ridge, Wilkinson Memorial, and Lower Brook trailheads —along with the adjacent Breakneck Ridge Metro-North Station —in the Hudson Highlands will remain closed until mid-2027. What’s going on at Breakneck Ridge? In April 2025, our partners at Hudson Highlands Fjord Trail began construction on the Breakneck Connector and Bridge project. The new trail and pedestrian bridge will provide hikers with an alternative to walking along State Route 9D to access popular trailheads and will create cohesive access to and from the new Breakneck Ridge train station. Construction will also address longstanding safety, accessibility, and environmental health issues by adding sidewalks, organized and formalized parking, enhanced crosswalks, and wayfinding signage. Where can I learn more?
