A shorter hike in the Tupper Lake area, Coney Mountain boasts an expansive view (especially during fall foliage!), and is a great quick hike to take the kids on – for a fall lunchtime picnic on top, or as a morning hike in the summer before spending the hotter part of the day on the water.

Trail Stats

Distance: 2.2 miles round-trip

Elevation: 2,265 ft

Ascent: 515 ft

Beginning at the trailhead just off of route 30, the relatively new trail up Coney Mountain (created in 2009) is well-built and takes you up 1.1 miles to the summit. The elevation gain is gentle and winding, and not too challenging for the 1.1 mile distance, which makes it a good hike for young families. When you reach the summit you will have a 360-degree view of the Tupper Lakes and nearby High Peaks, specifically Santanoni and the Sewards.
