A shorter and easier (though no less steep) hike than its neighbor, Black Bear Mountain, Rocky Mountain is a great hike for families and hikers with dogs. Even though it’s a quick hike, you still get a good view from the top of Fourth Lake, as well as nearby Inlet and Eagle Bay. You might even be able to point your lodging out to the kids! Trail Stats Distance: 1-mile round-trip Elevation: 2,225 ft Ascent: 448 ft Rocky Mountain is a quick hike, but that doesn’t necessarily make it easy! It climbs up at a decently steep incline for a half-mile to the summit. The trail is well marked and frequently climbed – it can get busy in the summertime, so we recommend an early start. When you reach the summit, you’ll have an impressive view of Inlet and Fourth Lake from the mountain’s (unsurprisingly) rocky summit. This is a great hike if you’re looking to introduce your kids to their first mountain climb, or just a quick morning jaunt! Trailhead Headed from Inlet to Eagle Bay, drive on route 28 for 0.8 miles until you see the trailhead for Black Bear Mountain and Rocky Mountain on your right.
