A June hike to Marshall via closed Cold Brook Pass trail and herd paths from Lake Colden, encountering wet overgrown trail conditions, a recent landslide near Avalanche Pass, and variable weather from rain to sun. Notable dry conditions on descent and cold water at a pool near Indian Pass.

The Avalanche Pass Trail has been closed indefinitely following a major landslide triggered by intense rainfall in mid-July that destroyed the trail corridor between Lake Arnold and Avalanche Lake. Multiple peaks accessed via this route (Algonquin, Colden, Marcy, Skylight, Gray) are no longer accessible via their typical loop routes, though some remain accessible as out-and-back hikes.

A steep bushwhack route on Ticetonyk Mountain using a combination of blazed trails, herd paths, and trailless sections to ascend the south ridge. As of December 2023, the access road was severely washed-out with heavy ruts.

A rock-slide in summer 2019 made the original Twin Mountain ledge section impassable and dangerous. After initial controversy over an iron rung solution, the DEC completed a reroute in November 2019 featuring stone steps and scrambling terrain.
